In Runkel (Hessen), Germany, three workers have died and two others are in critical condition after an accident at a leather factory.

According to German police, the incident occurred while working inside the industrial facility, German media write, reports Telegraph.


As further reported, it is suspected that a worker fell into a pit where waste from the leather processing process is collected.

His colleagues went down to help him, but they too were exposed to an unknown substance.

Carbon dioxide (CO₂) is currently being considered as a possible cause.

Three of the workers did not survive, while two others were transported to hospitals.

German authorities have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the incident. /Telegrafi/
