Atletico Madrid have qualified for the Champions League semi-finals despite losing 1-2 at home to Barcelona in the second leg of their quarter-final last night. Their passage was secured with a 0-2 win from the first leg.
The Madrid club's performance impressed legendary French striker, and now CBS analyst, Thierry Henry.
"I have to talk about one player, Marcos Llorente. He played like he was in a trance. Griezmann was also brilliant, but Llorente was phenomenal. Wow. Bravo Atletico. Knocking Barcelona out of two competitions in one season, you have to congratulate them for that," said Henry.
Marcos Llorente is a 31-year-old Spanish right-back. He has been an integral part of Simeone's team, making 42 appearances, scoring four goals and providing six assists this season.
He came through the Real Madrid academy and has made 39 appearances and scored two goals for the first team. Llorente spent the 2016/2017 season on loan at Alaves, before being signed by Atletico in 2019 for €30 million.
He has played a total of 293 games for the Red and Whites, scoring 36 goals and providing 44 assists. He has won six trophies with Real Madrid and won La Liga with Atletico.
His contract runs until the summer of 2027 and Transfermarkt values him at €22 million. He is a member of the Spanish national team. /Telegrafi/
