Defense industry and modern armament, Macedonia talks about US-Kosovo strategic agreement

The Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, has emphasized the key importance of the United States of America in the development of Kosovo's defense capacities.
He underlines that military cooperation between the two countries remains stable and active in all directions. Speaking on the “Balkan Talks” show, the Macedonian assessed that, despite the current differences between the US and the European Union in terms of geostrategic approaches, the transatlantic partnership will continue to play a crucial role in maintaining stability in the region.
"We have not cooperated with the EU. I believe that the US and the EU will definitely resolve the ambiguities related to geo-strategic interests at some point, more precisely with the new US approach to less presence in Europe. I believe that despite the fact that there is a rift in US-Europe relations regarding how they see the future, a way will be found to align interests, given the fact that the US and the EU are those areas that represent democracy and human rights," he said.
The Macedonian added that the agreements signed between the two countries have produced concrete results. The minister emphasizes that cooperation with the US includes staff training, development of the defense industry and strategic purchases of military equipment.
"On the other hand, all agreements signed with the US are documents that have produced actions. The US is remaining present within the Ministry of Defense and the KSF, supporting in all directions.
They are a key factor in our defense development. Within the framework of the agreements, we have the training of our staff, cooperation in the development of the defense industry, where we have worked with the American Embassy in Kosovo to bring together potential manufacturers in Kosovo.
"The points we have addressed in the agreement are also strategic purchases. In December, we signed a contract for the purchase of a modern artillery system, which is being sold for the first time outside the US, precisely in Kosovo," said Maqedonci./Euronews Albania
