Vetevendosje Movement MP Mefail Bajqinovci has stated that the country is heading towards electing a new president and that there should be no elections.

He said on Debat Plus that meetings are expected in the coming days between Prime Minister Albin Kurti and opposition parties, calling for the opposition to reflect in order to reach an agreement for the president.

"There should be no elections. We are heading towards a new president and the opposition should reflect on having the president," Bajqinovci declared.

According to him, the Vetëvendosje Movement has shown willingness to find a consensual candidate, while blaming the opposition for a lack of political will, also mentioning the process for electing Vjosa Osmani.

He added that the opposition's statements about elections are not a solution and warned that the situation could worsen for them.

"We have often heard the opposition saying that we have nothing to lose, if we lose, only LVV will lose, but it is a popular saying that evil has no end, so the opposition must know that there could be even worse than this result," he declared.
