Several injured in fire in a multi-storey building in Tirana, helicopters intervene

Completed: The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, said that two firefighters, engaged in extinguishing the fire in the Arlis complex, on Dibra Street, near "Pharmacy 10", have presented themselves at the emergency room to receive medical assistance.
In a statement to the media, Hita said that the two firefighters are in good health.
"There were two residents evacuated by the fire and police services. They are very well, they do not have serious problems, except for asphyxiation. Two fire service employees showed up, they have minor burns, they are in good health and do not have serious problems," said Hita.
He also emphasized that all forces and structures of the State Police have been engaged in extinguishing the fire since the moment the event was reported.
"The FNSH units and the special RENEA units have also been made available to open the doors," he said.
He further announced that "not all apartments have been checked yet until the fire is under control. We have no official announcement of loss of life."
Regarding the causes of the fire, Hita said that the police have clues and are collecting the necessary evidence.
"All investigative actions will be carried out," he said.
On the other hand, the director of the Fire Service, Arben Cara, said that the flames have been neutralized. Cara said that work is being done to localize the fire from all directions and apartments so that the flames can be brought under control.
"It is too soon to talk about the causes of the fire. We are maximally engaged with the forces of the State Police and Civil Emergencies to make it possible to neutralize the flames that we already have under control. It is too soon to say that the fire has been extinguished, as work is being done in all directions to make it possible to localize the fire in all apartments. We have made it possible to localize the fire so that it does not spread to the surrounding towers," said Cara.
Cara added that "Tirana is engaged with all its full capacities, over 50 firefighters from the Municipality of Tirana, from Vora and from Kamza. Army firefighters are here."
"At 16:52, from the police station, we received a report of a fire in this complex and then I communicated with the Director General of the State Police, the Director of Civil Emergencies, the Minister of Interior and we made it possible to engage the forces that are already working intensively to localize the fire sources," said Aim, reports ATSH.
Cara also said that "we cannot talk about how many apartments have been burned down, but the fire has engulfed the entire northeast section from the first floor to the top floor in the complex."

Completed: The fire situation near the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center continues to be alarming, where an entire building was engulfed in flames.
According to A2 CNN, another fire broke out on the eighth floor of the apartment complex, forcing firefighters to intervene again.
"Although a few minutes ago the authorities officially said that the fire is under control, a few minutes ago, as can be seen from the live footage provided by A2 CNN, another fire broke out on the eighth floor of this residential complex. There are still flames and firefighters have climbed nearby via stairs and are fighting the flames to finally extinguish them," he stated on Off the Record with Andrea Dangli on A2 CNN.
According to him, the flames spread rapidly due to the material used on the exterior facade of the building, known as the "kapot system", which favors the rapid spread of fire.
"According to the communications I have had with construction experts and civil engineers, the external facade of this building is problematic because, in construction terms, the capot system is built from a material that favors the rapid spread of flames, which has also brought about these extraordinary proportions and great material damage, as a result of this fire that started about three and a half hours ago," he reported.
Fortunately, so far, no victims have been reported, while 7 people have been injured, 4 citizens and 3 firefighters, all out of danger.
Residents were evacuated in time by emergency services, police and army forces.
The material damage is considerable, as not only was the facade of the building completely burned down, but the adjacent building also suffered damage.
