Gerard Pique has expressed his support for Pau Cubarsi after the young Barcelona defender received a red card in the defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Pique sent words of encouragement to the young talent via a comment on Cubars' Instagram post, writing: "Keep your head up, friend. You will beat them in the second leg."
The teenage defender was sent off shortly before half-time after a challenge on Giuliano Simeone, leaving Barcelona with ten men at a crucial moment in the first leg of their quarter-final.
Immediately after this episode, Julian Alvarez took advantage of the situation and scored from the awarded free kick, further worsening the situation for the Catalans.
After the match, Cubarsi took responsibility for the incident and apologized to his teammates and fans.
