The world's first 'mountain city', where buildings are wrapped in plants and logs, will be built in China to prevent global warming and combat air pollution.

Liuzhou Forest City will be home to more than 30 residents once construction is completed in a few years, Telegraph reports.

Houses, offices, hotels, schools and a hospital will be built among 40 logs, while they will be wrapped with over a million plants from 100 different species. These are expected to absorb 10 thousand tons of CO2 and 57 thousand tons of polluted air, while they will produce about 900 tons of oxygen.

The city will be built north of Liuzhou, in the mountainous part of Guaxi, covering about 175 hectares with the Liujiang River flowing through the middle.

This settlement will be connected to other urban parts through the fast train and roads where only electric cars will be used. It is expected to have various residential buildings, commercial and recreational spaces, two schools and a hospital.

The company expects that in this area the average air temperature will decrease, the noise barrier will be created and the biodiversity will improve, which enables the reproduction of birds, small animals and insects. Construction will begin in 2020. /Telegrafi/
