Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer have signed an agreement to provide Ukraine with a $2.8 billion (2.6 billion euros) loan.

"The loan will be repaid from proceeds from frozen Russian assets," said UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves.

It is announced that the agreement is part of the United Kingdom's "unwavering and ongoing support for the Ukrainian people," it writes. CNN, the Telegraph reports.

Ukraine's Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, who joined the meeting remotely via video link, said Ukraine was "very grateful" for the "much-needed" agreement.

The loan is in addition to the UK's ongoing funding of around $3.7 billion per year for Ukraine.

"This money is about helping to ensure the territorial integrity of Ukraine," Reeves said, adding that the funds also strengthen "the security of all of Europe." /Telegraph/
