On Monday, March 22, the new Government of Kosovo was voted with Albin Kurti as Prime Minister.

There are three deputy prime ministers and 2 ministers in the Kurti 15 Government.


Among the new ministers is Hajrulla Çeku, who will lead the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Telegrafi reports.

But who is Hajrulla Çeku, who for the first time took the post of minister?Hajrulla Çeku was born in 1983 in Prizren. He studied at the University of Pristina, majoring in "Political Science" and has a master's degree in "Governance and Local Development" at the University of Trento, Italy and the University of Regensburg, Germany. For 15 years, he has been part of civil society engaged in issues of cultural heritage, tourism, urban planning and the environment. He has been involved in many civic initiatives for the protection of the urban structure of the cities of Kosovo. Over the years, he was involved in many local and international organizations. He has been and continues to be engaged in many of them. He also served as a member of the Kosovar Tourism Council, while as an external expert he supported the drafting of the national policy for integrated conservation of cultural heritage in Kosovo. He was Deputy Minister of Tourism and Environment in the Government of Albania. Hajrulla Çeku has completed several international training programs in cultural heritage protection, human rights, tourism management, leadership skills in the United States, Malta, Germany, Belgium, Croatia and France. Čeku was elected deputy in the 2019-2021 legislature and during this period he was the Chairman of the Parliamentary Investigative Committee regarding the privatization process in Kosovo, a member of the Committee for Agriculture, Forestry, Rural Development, Infrastructure and Environment and a member of the Committee for Rights and Interests of Communities and Return. He was also the leader of the Forum for Parliamentary Transparency, and part of the Group of Green Deputies. In addition to his mother tongue, he speaks English, Turkish and Serbian. Otherwise, 2 MPs voted for the Kurti 67 Government, while 30 voted against.

Kurti in his cabinet will have deputy prime minister Besnik Bislimi, deputy prime minister Donika Gërvalla and will also lead the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and deputy prime minister Emilja Rexhepi.
