The Kosovo Police, through a media release, has called on parents to be careful about the use of social networks by their children, due to the spread of the suicide game known as 'Blue Whale'.

KP's full announcement:Seeing the trend of global developments in the field of use of social networks, communication and 'online' games for young people, I now have an urgent need to seriously deal with parents and society in general with a direct supervision and conversation with our children. According to information available on the Internet, a very dangerous 'online' game for children called "BLUE WHALE GAME" or variously known as "SUICIDE GAME" has been presented and is spreading rapidly. With record speed this game is being distributed in many countries of the world, including European countries. The news of the spread of this dangerous suicidal game for young people comes amid the suicide of about 130 minors in Russia (information published in the media). According to some information received from social networks, this game is suspected to have originated from Russia and that since 2016 it has spread and gained the attention of young people. Fortunately, this game has not yet arrived in mass in the Republic of Kosovo, or at least the Kosovo Police does not have any such information/case, but that your Police wants to raise the level of attention to all parents about the potential possibility that even children ours can fall prey to this degenerate and destructive game for them. WHAT IS THIS GAME SO DANGEROUS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE? The game "THE BLUE WHALE GAME" is a game that takes place 'online' which mainly aims to target young people who are sensitive or sensitive where then, for a certain time will convince them to commit SUICIDE. Mostly this game is distributed to young people through social communication networks. At the moment young people enter to play this game, the game "THE BLUE WHALE GAME" by a group of people who administer this game, the children are given tasks which they have 50 days to complete or finish. These tasks may include e.g. watching horror movies, waking up early in the morning in order to disrupt routine and daily activities. These tasks given by the administrators of this game day by day become more difficult for the youngsters and become very extreme during the 50 days that this game lasts. Lately, some members of the game's administration have been encouraging young people to self-harm by encouraging them to scratch their hand until it bleeds by drawing the 'blue whale' and somehow 'brainwashing the youth'. On the 50th day of the game children who play this game are seriously encouraged by the administrators of this game to commit suicide to complete the game successfully. WHAT CAN WE DO TO PROTECT AND PREVENT THREAT TO OUR CHILDREN? Ask your children what they are looking at while using the computer (smartphone, tablet, laptop). It is very important for you as parents to understand what websites children visit, how they communicate on social networks, what applications they use and what they have installed on their devices. Check and regulate your children's privacy on the devices they use (computer, smartphone, tablet, laptop). Make sure children know how to create their own profile by making restrictions on its distribution and turning their profile into 'personal'. Make sure children know when and how to report and block suspects or strangers trying to communicate with them and who publish various messages with explicit and violent content. Be sure to tell your children never to share personal information such as their school name, phone number, residential address or anything that would identify the child. Always make sure you have a friendly conversation with your child and discuss dangerous issues such as cyberbullying, gossip and ridicule between peers and other security aspects that concern your child. Always take care to monitor your child's mood and immediately talk amicably to him or her about any potential problems he or she may have. If as a parent you notice any signs in your child such as: loss of mood, waking up early in the morning, lack of appetite for food, closing for hours in the room, staying for a long time on the computer or electronic devices that he or she uses, or even the lack of interest in life activities in general, IMMEDIATELY consult a PSYCHOLOGIST and notify the Kosovo Police, on Tel: 192 or on e-mail: info@kosovopolice.com --- FACEBOOK: /kosovopoliceZIMP
