In the regional competition for the development of the economy, Albania continues to show significant economic growth.

In its latest report, the Bank of Albania compared the situation between countries such as Kosovo, North Macedonia and Serbia in the first six months of 2021.


As for the growth of the Gross Domestic Product, Kosovo takes the first place with 5.6 percent, followed by Albania with 0.1 point less. Serbia has also progressed positively with an increase of 1.7 percent, while Skopje still has a negative trend.

Regarding the annual inflation, Serbia holds the first place with 3.2 percent, while Albania occupies the last place.

This indicator is valid both for measuring the progress of consumption, but also for the long-term development of the economy.

According to the Central Bank, unemployment in Albania increased by 0.5 percent.

But according to official data, Kosovo has the highest level with 27 percent and North Macedonia with 16 percent. Belgrade and Tirana have an almost identical trend.

Analyzing the reduction of the interest rate for mortgage loans and for businesses, the Bank of Albania predicts the continuation of the stable growth of the economy.

This is accompanied by the increase in confidence after the lifting of restrictions to prevent the Corona virus pandemic.

Even in the international markets, the central banking institution underlines, there is a strong development of the economy accompanied by the increase in consumption. /Ora News/
