The former La Liga player who saved the life of a child with cancer

Every now and then, footballers show their more human side off the pitch. Brian Sarmiento's story with a young man hospitalized goes further. The Argentine did everything he could to fulfill the wishes of a child who was in the hospital with cancer. In the end, his visit ended up being the 'key' to his recovery.
“They called me one day and said, 'Brian, can you send me a video about a guy who's a fan of yours? He has cancer", I said: "In which hospital are you? I'm coming there", said Sarmiento first, telling his story.
Sarmiento decided to go to the hospital and try to enter the room where the boy was staying, with the prior permission of his mother.
"Leave me alone," he said. Once inside, the footballer tried to encourage him in the best possible way and make him feel comfortable: "I said, 'What's wrong? Come with me, how can I take you to the stadium? In 15 days I'll come and visit you again. Start eating and getting up, because you have to leave here.'"
What happened next was something unexpected even for the footballer himself, who previously played for the Girona team.
"15 days later the boy was at the stadium with me... A year and a half later his grandmother called me and told me to come for her grandson's birthday, thank you very much," says Sarmiento with great surprise.
