OpenAI, the American company behind the development of ChatGPT, has announced the opening of a new office in the Swiss city of Zurich, aiming to strengthen its presence in Europe.

Zurich, known as one of the continent's leading technology hubs, will welcome three leading artificial intelligence (AI) researchers, becoming an important base for the company.

The news was made public in a press release on Wednesday, highlighting the city's importance as a technology hub, home to companies such as Google for two decades.

The opening of the Zurich office is part of OpenAI's strategy to expand operations in some of the most important European cities. swissinfo.

In addition to Zurich, the company is already present in Brussels, Dublin, London and Paris. Currently, the value of the company is estimated at 157 billion dollars, positioning it among the most valuable technology companies in the world.

OpenAI was founded in 2015 by Sam Altman and Elon Musk, among others, initially as a non-profit organization with the mission to advance AI technology for the benefit of humanity.

However, the company has changed its structure to a "profit corporation", aiming to attract more investment. Elon Musk left the company in 2018 and has since had legal battles with OpenAI, describing it as a "de facto for-profit Microsoft company."

With this new step, OpenAI aims to strengthen its position as a leader in AI development and research, taking advantage of the talent and technological resources that Zurich has to offer. /Telegraph/
