A bad day for "millennials" as one of the most significant parts of their childhood, Miniclip, announced that they will be shutting down all their servers, except for the 8 Ball Pool and Agario games.

This news comes after several years of declining daily players on their website and shrinking Web Gaming profits.

An industry-wide push to ditch the Adobe Flash player, which was a key element of Miniclip's success in the 2000s, only meant that news of the imminent shutdown was imminent, the Telegraph reports.

A site that was built from the ground up based on the Adobe Flash player and had many games that required this "plugin" in order to play them was just a time bomb waiting for its end, REPORTS talksport.

In April, UK-based mobile game publisher Miniclip announced its plan to shut down its web gaming portal and stated that the main focus will be on the success of its mobile games which they had recently passed the number of over 4 billion downloads, a list which included games like Agar.io, Mini Militia, 8 Ball Boll and others.

Miniclip also posted a lengthy FAQ on its support site where they explained the company's change in strategy and what it meant for other games and content partnerships on their site.

They also went into detail about why delivering the platform to fans would not be possible as "the technology required to make this happen is a proprietary solution for Miniclip."

Despite its early success, the site had a hard time keeping its audience excited enough to visit it on a daily basis and generate revenue from its Web Gaming service.

With the advancement in phone games, the already dwindling players count heavily and we are now witnessing the decline of a part of the era. But still, the company is now focusing on a better revenue generation model and we are likely to see more successful mobile games in the future. /Telegraph/
