Actress Winona Ryder's boyfriend thought she was Milla Jovovich when they first met, as he had no idea who she was.

The 50-year-old thinks it's "amazing" that fashion designer Scott Mackinlay Hahn, who she's dated since 2011, isn't involved in the same industry as her, but his lack of Hollywood knowledge led to a funny situation.

"We have a lot in common. We connected on so many levels. But it was amazing that he wasn't in this business. I really tried to keep it quiet. He thought I was Milla Jovovich. He told me I was great in 'The Fifth Element,'" Ryder told the magazine Harper's Bazaar.

The "Stranger Things" actress recently admitted that she hasn't been taking care of herself since splitting from Johnny Depp in 1993, but a psychologist encouraged her to imagine being gentler with a younger version of herself, which she also helped him - reports KP.

Referring to her 1999 film Girl, Interrupted, which is about a young woman in a mental hospital, Winona said this was her real life.

“I remember, I was playing this character who ends up being tortured in a Chilean prison. I would look at these fake bruises and cuts on my face (from filming) and struggle to see myself as this little girl. 'Would you treat this girl the way you are treating yourself?' "I remember looking at myself and saying, 'This is what I'm doing to myself,' because I just wasn't taking care of myself," the actress said.

Ryder is grateful for the support she received from her "The Age of Innocence" co-star Michelle Pfeiffer at the time.

"I remember Michelle saying, 'This will pass.' But I couldn't hear it. I never talked about it. It is this part of me that is very private. I have such a place in my heart for those days. But, for someone younger who has grown up with social media, it's hard to describe", she further emphasized.
