Who will be the cause of new conflicts, according to Erdogan?

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that water could become a cause of global conflicts, just as oil was in the past. In this context, he recalled the importance of careful management of water resources in Turkey.
According to him, in a century where competition for power is intensifying in all fields, the most strategic and valuable resource in production and energy is precisely water. He emphasized this during the inauguration of 563 facilities built by the Turkish State Directorate of Water Resources (DSI).
"The war that was fought over oil and other fossil fuels in the last century will be fought over water in the future. Looking at the heated conflicts around us, these signs are already visible," Erdogan said, the newspaper reports. Hurryet.
He recalled that water is being threatened as a result of climate change, population growth, rapid urbanization and industrialization. According to him, the global average annual rainfall reaches 990 millimeters (990 liters per square meter), while in Turkey this average is 574 millimeters (574 liters per square meter).

"This shows that we are obliged to protect, use rationally, and manage our water before we reach the point of depletion," he stressed.
Erdogan called on citizens and institutions to have a responsible approach to water.
The Turkish leader also stressed that global demand for clean water is increasing, while resources are dwindling due to excessive consumption and pollution.
"Currently, 2.2 billion people in the world do not have access to safe drinking water. According to the World Water Report, it is estimated that by 2050, six billion people will not have access to sufficient amounts of clean water. Moreover, the climate crisis is threatening precisely water - our source of life," Erdogan said.
Finally, he stressed that Turkey faces some of the greatest threats of climate change, including forest fires and floods. /Telegraph/
