Japan Airlines CEO Haruka Nishimatsu lives by a philosophy that many corporate leaders should heed.

Instead of acting as the ruler of the company, Nishimatsu acts as a leader.

"If management is high, then ordinary people expect orders. I want my people to think for themselves," says Nishimatsu, according to the Telegraph.

Nishimatsu goes to work by bus, wears cheap clothes and is paid a salary that is lower than some of his subordinates.

He even cut his salary significantly to avoid workers leaving.

Nishimatsu says he is able to create an environment that is more satisfying for his workers, but also beneficial for the company.

Japan Airlines currently employs over 34 people and for 2019 generated around 11 billion dollars. /Telegraph/
