Google has announced that it has removed state media Russia Today (RT) from its news search engine.
The company has already restricted Russian state-funded media from advertising and using certain features on YouTube.
"In this extraordinary crisis we are taking extraordinary measures to stop the spread of misinformation and to thwart online disinformation campaigns," said Google President Kent Walker.
Russia Today and Sputnik, which is another Russian-funded media outlet, are considered by the US State Department to be two "critical elements in Russia's disinformation and propaganda ecosystem."
Also, Apple said that the Russia Today and Sputnik apps will not be able to be downloaded outside the territory of Russia. /Telegraph/
