Former Las Palmas coach reveals why Real Madrid refused to sign Pedro

Pepe Mel has recently attracted attention after a strong statement related to Barcelona star Pedri.
The Spanish international, who is considered one of the best midfielders in the world, worked with Mel during their time together at Las Palmas.
In fact, Mel has played a key role in Pedro's initial rise, with the Spaniard having played a full 37 official matches under his guidance.
Although Pedri later moved to Barcelona, Mel revealed in a recent interview with Radiostadio Noche that the former Las Palmas player was also pursued by Real Madrid.
Mel added that he had even had a conversation with Real Madrid president and club legend Emilio Butragueno.

"I spoke to Butragueno and he told me that the club had already watched Pedro and decided that he was not a suitable player for Real Madrid."
Essentially, Los Blancos gave up the opportunity to sign Pedro because he was not considered a player of Real Madrid's caliber.
It should be noted that this happened before the Spaniard became a big star, especially after his transfer to Barcelona.
At just 23 years old, Pedri has already recorded 221 official matches with Barcelona, recently breaking Lionel Messi's record, after becoming the youngest player in history to play 150 La Liga matches for the Catalan club.Telegrafi/
