Albanian students from three universities, UT, SEEU and UNT, are protesting in Skopje, demanding that the jurisprudence exam be held in Albanian.

The students demanded the resignation of Justice Minister Igor Fillkov, who has stated that he will not allow the bar exam to be held in Albanian. The students said that they are only demanding the implementation of the Law on the Use of Languages.

"This protest should have happened sometime. It should not have been thought that in 2026 students would take to the streets for their language. Before we are students and professionals, we are Albanians. The Albanian language is not the way we speak, it is the way we have existed, stayed and how we have come this far. The Albanian language is not negotiable. We are law students, we are the ones who will defend the law tomorrow, but today we demand our right, our right to our native language. A state that does not enforce its rights cannot exist. We are not against anyone, we are here for ourselves and for our language," said student Mevlan Ademi.



"Our request is simple, respect the Constitution and the law, no more, no less. Our colleagues have the right to take the jurisprudence exam in Albanian, any delay is an attempt to deny our right," said student Besar Sejdiu, president of the Student Parliament of "Mother Teresa" University.



"Today we are here, not as separate individuals, but as a common voice of students demanding legitimate rights. It is a moment of reflection for all institutional factors. It is a moment of reflection for Minister Fillkov, as we also know how to rebel. It is a call for Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski not to address this issue only in the context of declarations, but to commit to real solutions. We are not asking for anything more than our rights, every Albanian politician should understand this. We are asking for solutions, not justifications", said Besjan Rexhepi, president of the SEEU Student Parliament. /Telegrafi/
