Customs destroys over 146 thousand counterfeit products, unauthorizedly bearing the trademarks "Coca-Cola", "Fanta" and "Sprite"

Kosovo Customs has announced that as part of actions to protect intellectual property rights and consumer safety, 146,886 pieces of counterfeit oral hygiene sprays, which unauthorizedly bore the trademarks "Coca-Cola", "Fanta" and "Sprite", have been destroyed.
These goods were seized by Customs after identifying suspicions of infringement of intellectual property rights and after verifications carried out in cooperation with the competent authorities and rights holders.
"After the completion of legal procedures, the competent court has made a decision to destroy them," the announcement states.
The announcement further states that counterfeit products, especially those related to hygiene and personal use, may pose a risk to the health of citizens, as they are not subject to safety and quality standard controls.
"For this reason, the destruction was carried out in accordance with the legislation in force and under customs supervision, in order to prevent their placement on the market. This action proves the commitment of Kosovo Customs in combating illegal trade, protecting consumers and guaranteeing a fair and safe market. Kosovo Customs will continue with increased controls and measures against counterfeit goods, in order to protect public health and the country's economy," the announcement states. /Telegrafi/
