The sanctions that the US imposed on Russian companies Rusk Naft and Lukoil caused significant fluctuations in global oil markets. As a result, last week saw an increase in the price of crude oil, a trend that continued this week.

The Chairman of the Energy Regulatory Commission, Marko Bislimovski, told Alsat that the increase in prices on world stock exchanges has also caused an increase in the prices of oil derivatives in the local market.

"Last week, the US imposed sanctions on two Russian companies, "Rusk Naft" and "Lukoil" and as a result, oil markets are particularly sensitive to this and last week there was a more serious increase in crude oil on the world stock exchange, this trend continued this week and because of this we also have an increase in prices, especially of oil derivatives", said Marko Bislimovski - Chairman of the CER.

Bislimovski expects the price of oil to stabilize and that there will be no further increase in oil derivatives.
"We, as a Commission, based on this increase, increased the price of oil by 2 denars and I expect that this will stabilize further and that there will be no further increase in the prices of oil derivatives. These are things that we as a state cannot influence in any way, so these are external influences, imported influences, mainly due to the imposition of sanctions against the two largest Russian companies in this business," added Marko Bislimovski - Chairman of the CER.

Otherwise, the sanctions imposed by the US on Russian oil companies are not expected to have a negative effect on the supply of oil derivatives in our country because almost 86% of the oil available in the country is imported from Greece.

According to the CER Annual Report for 2024, wholesalers of crude oil, oil derivatives, biofuels and transport fuels imported oil derivatives from 11 countries, with most oil derivatives imported from neighboring countries, namely Greece 85.98%, Bulgaria 10.49%, Albania 2.27%, Serbia 0.96%, Montenegro 0.15%, Romania 0.09% and a small percentage of imports from other countries. /Alsat.mk
