Do you know why these license plates sold for $1.68 million?

License plates have long been big business and one sold for $1.68 million in Australia.

That's enough to buy a big house and at least two supercars, but those with deep pockets don't really see it that way.

It is about license plates with the number 20, which were registered in the Australian state of Victoria. The license plates have two signs, which are among the 90 existing two-digit ones in the country, i.e. one of only nine with "round" numbers.

While it sounds crazy to spend so much money on license plates, they have become big business and their value has skyrocketed over the years.

Such plates are appreciated not only in Australia, but also in other parts of the world. The fewer numbers on them, the more expensive the license plates are.

A few years ago, these plates were seen on a regular Mercedes C200 station wagon, although they are worth 50 times more than the car itself.

It's also not the most expensive Australian number plate sold, as the record for number 1 number plates was set in January at $8 million. /Telegraph/
