In 1982, the decision was adopted to mark the International Day of Monuments and Historical Settlements on April 18 of each year.
This day is seen as an opportunity for all national committees to defend their common goals.
A year later, the General Conference of UNESCO has recommended to member states to consider the possibility of declaring this day. /KP/
