"In 1941, the Prefecture of the capital of Kosovo was headed by Hysen Prishtina, the son of the Albanian nobleman, Xhemal Beg Prishtina.

Hysen Prishtina was born on March 16, 1916 in Pristina. In the thirties of the last century, he finished his studies at the Faculty of Agronomy at the University of Rome.

Hysen Prishtina was appointed prefect of Pristina when he was 25 years old. During the time he was a prefect, he worked to give eastern Pristina an occidental look.


During the four years of his government, primary and secondary education in Pristina advanced rapidly. In 1941, primary schools were opened. The Sami Frashëri High School was also opened in Pristina. At this time, a factory for the production of carpets was also opened.

This same year, Hysen Prishtina issued a decree, through which he requested that state institutions and every shop in Prishtina put up the national flag on the occasion of November 28, the day of Albania's independence.

In this time of turmoil, in addition to his wonderful commitment as prefect, Hysen Prishtina took under the protection of his administration all the Jewish families living in Pristina...

By the end of 1944, the communists shot and imprisoned many noblemen of Pristina. The most noble were Shyqri Beg Ramadani, Haxhi Hysë Daka, Mustafa Haxhi Agushi, Malush and Hamdi Kosova, Xhemal and Sylejman Beg Prishtina, then the Staka, Domaniku, Efendiu, Vala, Henci, Batalli families...

After the victory of the communist camp, Hysen Prishtina migrated first to Italy, then to Turkey and Belgium. He spent the last years of his life in Toronto, Canada. He passed away at the age of 75 on June 14, 1991., the Doctor wrote. /Telegraph/
