When the "prince" arrived in Mirdita!

Preng Bibë Dodë Pasha and his relatives considered themselves as successors of Lekë Dukagjin, and therefore precisely for this reason, they had the right to command Mirdita.

Preng Bibë Doda had commanded the mirditors against the Ottomans in 1877. In 1881 he was exiled to Anatolia. In 1908, after 17 years of exile, he had the opportunity to return to Mirdita. This was a big event for the entire North of Albania.

Edith Durhami, who had meanwhile arrived in Shkodër, decided to become part of the princely caravan that was headed towards the heart of Mirdita, towards Shpal.

"...What seemed impossible had happened, the Prince returned to his people. He got off his horse with the look of someone who doesn't even know if he's awake or asleep. It's difficult when they call you so suddenly, asking you to play the role of a demigod," he wrote.

2500 men had gathered in Shpal that day. It was Durham's last trip to Mirdita. 11 years later, when she was in Egypt, the Prince was killed in an assassination attempt near Milot.
