What causes miscarriage: Women lose babies, even before they know they're pregnant

When abortion is caused by genetics and what are the symptoms that a woman has lost a child...

It is defined as the unprovoked loss of the fetus during the first three months of pregnancy, an early abortion is one up to the 12th week, while a late abortion is from the 13th week to the 24th week of pregnancy, Telegraph reports.

The causes can be different, but most of them have nothing to do with what the woman did or did not do.

During the first trimester of pregnancy, miscarriage is most often the result of a problem in the fetus. These are usually abnormal chromosomes, regardless of whether the fetus has too many or not enough.

This is the reason why the fetus cannot develop normally. In about two to five percent of miscarriages, genetics are to blame – one partner has a chromosomal abnormality of which they are completely unaware.

Also, the development of the placenta can be dangerous and weak during pregnancy, because in this way the baby is starved - it does not get enough blood or enough nutrients.

In the second trimester, the causes of miscarriage can be a weak cervix, its shape, infection with a sexually transmitted disease and even the result of food poisoning. If a late miscarriage occurs, the causes can be irregularities in blood coagulation, problems with the thyroid gland and, again, difficulties due to a weak cervix.

Symptoms of an early miscarriage include bleeding, pain and cramping in the lower abdomen, swelling of fluid from the vagina and discharge of tissue particles. A pregnant woman may stop experiencing pregnancy symptoms such as nausea or breast pain and tenderness.

From the very beginning, the most important thing is to call a doctor immediately. Miscarriage is much more common than previously thought, for example in the UK it is 1 in 8 pregnancies. In many cases, this happens even before the woman determines that she is pregnant.

To avoid it, it is important that the expectant mother leads a healthy life, does not drink, does not smoke and does not take other dangerous substances. In high-risk pregnancies, it is extremely important to follow all the doctor's instructions. /Telegraph/
