We get most of our genes from our maternal grandmother

Maternal grandmothers are unique and have a special connection with us, like their grandchildren.
They play a very important role in our lives, both on an emotional level and on a genetic level.
Even if you don't spend much time with your grandmother, the bond between you and her will never fade.
This is because you inherit her DNA, temperament, tastes and emotions.
Alejandro Jodorwsky, a Chilean essayist, has written a book called Metagenealogy: Self-Discovery Through Psychomagic and the Family Tree, where he explains the genetic influence that maternal grandmothers have on their grandchildren.
According to him, the genes that children receive while in the mother's womb come directly from their grandmothers. Among all parents, grandparents and other family members, maternal grandmothers are mostly responsible for genetic inheritance.
Genes are not always passed down to the next generation, so they skip a generation. This is why there is always a chance that some children will look more like their aunts, uncles and grandparents than their parents, reports the Telegraph.
Children may not look exactly like their grandmother, but there will always be a mark on them: a mole, smile, eye color, the way they walk, etc. Also, children often inherit the bone structure, muscles and genetic diseases from their grandparents.
We share about 25% of our DNA with our grandparents. Scientists from the University of Cambridge have published a study about the connection of maternal grandmothers with their grandchildren.
According to this research, this link occurs because of the X chromosome – grandmothers pass 25% of their X chromosomes to all grandchildren, which enables them to inherit their grandmother's genes.
On the other hand, paternal grandmothers pass X chromosomes only to their granddaughters, but not to their grandsons. Therefore, while paternal grandmothers have 50% X-chromosome linkage to their granddaughters, they are 0% linked to their grandsons.
According to Jodorowsky, children also inherit emotional experiences from their maternal grandmother. /telegraph/
