Fired on suspicion of drug use, colleagues come to the defense of neurologist Igor Kuzmanovski

Following the publication of a video of neurologist professor Igor Kuzmanovski, who was suspected of using narcotics, colleagues from the Neurology Clinic expressed their support for their colleague in a letter.
According to them, the recently published compromising material is discrediting his personality and they appeal for restraint in public discourse, for respect for human dignity, and for support that is consistent with the values of the medical community and society as a whole.
Full letter:
“We, his colleagues, express our professional and human support for Prof. Dr. Kuzmanovski, who during his long-term management of the clinic, from 2012 to 2017, completely renovated the clinic, introduced several diagnostic methods and innovative therapeutic procedures. In his daily work with patients and in communication with colleagues, he always behaved with the highest professionalism, responsibility and ethical commitment.
At no time has any behavior been observed that would be inappropriate, reckless or contrary to professional standards. Even in situations where suspicions or public discussions arise about actions that could be interpreted as contrary to the moral and ethical principles of the medical profession, his professional functioning remains unwavering, guided by integrity and care for patients. In the spirit of medical ethics and human dignity, we consider that every individual, especially in moments of public exposure and personal vulnerability, deserves support, understanding and appropriate psychosocial assistance. Instead of condemnation, it is necessary to encourage compassion – not only towards the professional, but also towards his family, who innocently faces the consequences of the public reaction.
"With this letter, we appeal for restraint in public discourse, for respect for human dignity, and for support that is consistent with the values of the medical community and society as a whole," the letter of support for Prof. Dr. Kuzmanovski from colleagues at the Neurology Clinic states.
