Volkswagen offers payouts to workers who leave their factory in Russia

Volkwsagen Group has offered compensation to workers at a factory in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, where their cars are assembled, if they agree to voluntarily resign.

The offer for financial compensation and health insurance until the end of 2022 applies to the factory's 200 workers, a company spokesperson said, Telegraph reports.

In the factory in Nizhny Novgorod, in addition to the VW Taos, the production and assembly of the Skoda Octavia, Karoq and Kodiaq models is also carried out, writes autonews.

Volkswagen said in March that their factories in Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod will be closed for an indefinite period and that exports of their cars to Russia will be stopped immediately due to Western sanctions against the Russian state.

While the factory in Kaluga which has around 4,200 workers is owned by Volkswagen, the factory in Nizhny Novgorod is not owned by them, but they have a contractual agreement with the owners GAZ Group for the assembly of some car models. /Telegraph/
