Vitamins and men's health: What do you need for your 'friend' to work perfectly?

Preliminary research done in Italy has shown that a lack of vitamin D, which we mostly get through sunlight, leads to an increased risk of erectile dysfunction.

143 men with different forms and levels of erectile dysfunction took part in the test and almost half of them were found to have vitamin D deficiency.

Only five of them had optimal levels of this vitamin.

Men with the most severe form of erectile dysfunction on average had 24 percent less levels of this vitamin than men with the average level of erectile dysfunction, Telegrafi reports.

The insufficient amount of vitamin D promotes the production of free radicals which are called superoxide ions.

These free radicals reduce nitric oxide molecules, which help blood vessels to function properly.

If you have noticed certain problems with erection, go to your doctor and check your vitamin D level.

As an easier solution, doctors recommend taking supplements in a daily dose of 30 nanograms. /Telegraph/
