"He uses the disaster for promotion" - Vučić visited the injured from Macedonia with 11 cameras, causing huge reactions

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, accompanied by cameras and a large number of journalists, visited patients from North Macedonia who, after the tragic fire at a nightclub in Kočani, were transferred to Belgrade for treatment.

The tragedy, in which 59 people lost their lives and over 150 others were injured, including those with severe burns, has shocked the region.

While any help is welcome, the Serbian leader's actions have drawn sharp criticism, as he staged a media spectacle in hospital rooms, ignoring medical protocols and the dignity of patients. He also posted photos on social media from the intensive care unit, which many saw as an improper exploitation of the tragedy for personal gain.

Reactions on social media were fierce. “Severe burn patients are extremely immunologically sensitive. This crowding around them is medically irresponsible!” wrote one user of the X platform. Others pointed out that in civilized countries only doctors provide information about the condition of patients, while Vučić, surrounded by cameras, gave a political performance live from the hospital.

Macedonian media and experts also reacted. Doctor Nenad Lazarov called on Vučić to stop the "media circus" surrounding the seriously injured people.

"Thank you for the help, but this is not the right way. Burns are open wounds, such a hoarding jeopardizes the patients' recovery," he said.

While citizens of the region share the pain with those affected by the tragedy, the Serbian president's action has once again highlighted his tendency to exploit the misfortunes of others for personal political image, without regard for ethics, medical protocols, and the dignity of those in real need of help. /Telegraph/
