Bashkim Shehu, with a special prize from the Prix Mediterranee Etranger

Bashkim Shehu and his novel "The game, the collapse of the sky", after winning the "Balkanika" literary award and being published in France, was included in the competition for Prix Méditerranée Etranger 2018, where it received the special evaluation of the jury.

The Prix Méditerranée Etranger is one of the most important literary prizes awarded annually in France for translated literature.

Winners, among others, over the years: Ismail Kadare, Umberto Eco, Jashar Qemal, Orhan Pamuk, Claudio Magris, etc.


This year this award was given to the American writer Daniel Mendelsohn, also winner of many other prestigious awards, and one of the main contributors to the New York Review of Books.

The novel "The Game, the Fall of the Sky" was awarded the "Special Evaluation of the Jury", which was chaired by the member of the French Academy Dominique Fernandez.

It is the second time, in the 27 editions of this award, that such an assessment is given alongside the winner.
