Tripunovski: Through a package of measures, we are stimulating young people to return to the agricultural process

"Due to wrong policies in the past, today we have a migration of young people from the countryside to the city, they are abandoning the agricultural process. All this happens because they see that their families are not profitable during agricultural production," emphasized the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Cvetan Tripunovski, in the weekly interview for "Radio Free Europe".
"Through the new Law on Agriculture and Rural Development, which constitutes the foundation of agricultural production, we are working on establishing the rules of the game. The law has several chapters, including market regulation, the purchase of agricultural products, subsidies and others. That is the part that determines the directions in which we will move," the minister explained.
He added that the Ministry is working on involving the new youth power in the agricultural sector.
"During the past period, we have announced a series of public calls where we co-finance young people up to the age of 40. One of the calls was the so-called measure for young farmers, where grants of up to 10.000 euros are given. Furthermore, two public calls were announced for the distribution of agricultural land where young people had priority", emphasized the minister.
Minister Tripunovski emphasized that public calls for the modernization of agriculture, the purchase of tractors and attached agricultural mechanisms are ongoing. The Ministry has also announced a public call for door-to-door sales. These are measures where young people have priority in applying.
"In the Law on Agriculture and Rural Development, we propose that we help young married couples who decide to return to the village with a business plan," Tripunovski added. /Telegrafi/
