Top ten worst events in human history

We are not talking about simple battles lost or won, but about historical moments that have provoked the death of thousands of people, not from natural causes, but from human stupidity and cruelty.
Crusades
One of the darkest moments in human history were the Crusades or a series of wars that took place in the 11th and 13th centuries between the armies of the European Christian and Muslim kingdoms.
It was fought mainly on the territory of Asia Minor and the Eastern Mediterranean, but there were also battles in Europe, Egypt and Tunisia.
This historical period was covered by a religious "halo", which wanted to make the lands where Christ lived and died inevitably free from Islam, so much so that people were killed in the name of Christ and this was not considered a sin at all , when in reality there were also economic and political reasons.
Effectively the Papacy and the European powers did not want to convert Muslims to Christianity. So even though the official goal was to protect the pilgrims going to the holy land, disturbed by the Muslims, the economic reasons or the attempt to enrich themselves by the church and the rulers of the time should not be exceeded. The Crusades were one of the darkest events in human history, which still hide many secrets.
World War Two
Second is World War II. We all know, it is about the conflict that between 1939 and 1945 divided the Axis Powers on one side and the Allied countries on the other.
It began on September 1, 1939 with the invasion of Poland by Germany and ended in the European "theatre", on May 8, 1945 with the surrender of the Germans in the Asian "theatre", then on September 2 with the surrender of the Japanese Empire as a result of the explosions Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs.
Considered the greatest armed conflict in history, it is enough to think that it cost humanity six years of suffering, destruction and massacre with a total of 55 million dead. The Holocaust, the concentration camps, the atomic bombs: all the evils that the human race could do happened in this bloody war.
Holodomor
The Holodomor, also known as the Ukrainian genocide or the Ukrainian holocaust, is the name given to the famine that struck the territory of Ukraine in 1929-1933 and caused millions of deaths. In fact, it was not just a matter of a famine of natural causes, but of a genocide put into action by the Soviet Union.
Practically Stalin decided to channelize all the wealth of the agricultural industry and to do this he transformed all the small agricultural holdings of Ukraine into either agricultural cooperatives (Kolchoz) or state enterprises (Sovchoz).
Unfortunately in Ukraine there was an ancient tradition of individual agricultural enterprise: farmers, dispossessed of their lands, had to go by force to work in these cooperatives. Those who did not accept were expelled.
To make matters worse, the people were forced to hand over almost all their food to the state, until they had nothing left to eat. The result was an epic famine crisis: Stalin consciously killed his people.
The black death
Forget Star Wars, we're talking about the first black death, the plague: the plague epidemic that swept across Europe between 1347 and 1353, killing at least a third of the continent's population.
In fact, the same epidemic broke out at the same time in Asia and the Near East: for this reason one can fully speak of a pandemic. In addition to the bacilli, there were other factors that made this epidemic so deadly: poor hygiene standards, the opening of borders, overpopulation of cities, repeated famines, which "mined" the population's physique. It seems that the black death came from Asia: due to starvation, many rodents died and fleas covered them all, turning them into carriers of the epidemic, which then passed to humans.
First World War
Fourth place for World War I: it was the largest war ever fought before. It began on July 28, 1914, when Austria declared war on Serbia, and then with the assassination of Francesco Ferdinando on June 28, 1915, to end four years later, on November 11, 1918.
The conflict involved the biggest world powers of the time, divided into two blocs: the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary and Bulgaria) against the Allied powers represented mainly by France, Britain, Italy and the Russian Empire.
It caused more than 9 million victims, including soldiers and about 7 million civilian victims, due not only to the direct effects of war operations, but also to hunger and diseases that exacerbated the conflict even more.
Khmer Rossi's regime
Khmer Rossi or Khmer Rouge is the name of a communist political organization that ruled Cambodia from April 17, 1975 to January 9, 1979, during the so-called Democratic Kampuchea. The term Khmer Rossi was coined by King Norodom Sihanouk, but their official name was the Communist Party of Cambodia and later the Democratic Kampuchea Party. This regime provoked the death of about 2.5 million people from starvation, forced labor and executions. It was probably one of the most violent regimes of the XNUMXth century and one of the regimes with the highest death toll.
It is also very possible that certain leaders of Khmer Rossi themselves caused the death of their leader, Pol Pot, in order not to bring him alive to the "hands" of the International Criminal Court. Many of them have even benefited from amnesties dedicated to art, to avoid punishment.
Terrorism
What can be said about terrorism?! It is about a type of political war that consists of very sensational, violent and premeditated sequences and actions, such as: attacks, murders, massacres, kidnappings, sabotage, opposition to state subjects and institutions, governments, politicians or public groups, political, ethnic or religious. And that of the fanatical "matrix" is the worst of all!
Almost all of us remember the horror of the twin towers: such a thing must not be repeated! This is not the right way to impose your ideas. However, that of Al-Qaeda is one of the many forms of world terrorism, because over the years these forms have increased excessively.
Extinction of animal species
Let us leave aside for a moment the wars, in whatever form they appeared, to speak a little of the deliberate extermination which man continues to do to various kinds of animals: humanity in this case is like a kind of worst "explosion" rather than meteors, which apparently may have also wiped out the dinosaurs.
Humanity consciously killed animals, which it knew very well were the last of their kind. And why? To say: "I have that stuffed animal at home" or "Look at the fur I have". And when they are gone, what will we do?
Great Chinese mourning
The Three Years of Great Natural Disasters or Great Chinese Famine refers to the period in the history of the People's Republic of China from 1959 to 1961, during which a combination of bad economic policies and the coincidence of natural disasters caused a widespread famine.
Official estimates of this catastrophe speak of about 15 million deaths from starvation, out of a total of 40 million deaths.
Mao Zedong, inspired by Stalin in Ukraine, decided to privilege industry at the expense of agriculture: here again we find the cooperatives, whose only result was the death of the people from starvation.
Pedophilia and church scandals
And now we come to the most current story, to the scandals with a sexual background that have involved the church: since 2002, with a peak between 2009-2012, there are many cases of pedophilia committed by archpriests and priests, who have thrown mud on the Catholic Church, shocking the entire public opinion. Despite the fact that the popes have many times condemned cases of pedophilia within the premises of churches, this phenomenon still continues. /Alzbek newspaper/
