Togg C – 400 hp electric SUV made in Turkey, price starts from 48,500 euros

Togg is a Turkish joint venture of companies ranging from investment funds to electronics and manufacturing.

Its full name is Turkish Automobile Joint Venture Group Inc and it was founded in 2018 with the aim of designing and manufacturing electric cars domestically.

The company initially introduced two models – a sedan and an SUV, with three more models to follow for a portfolio of five different models by 2030.

The Togg C electric SUV is the first vehicle to roll out of the new factory in Gemlik, which opened last week.

Turkish electric car maker Togg is now building a battery factory in a joint venture with China's Farasis Energy near the Togg Technology Campus and plans to open a fast-charging network of 1000 stations across the country, Arena EV reports. , Telegrafi reports.

The design is really nice – the car is well-proportioned, has a nice mix of design cues from Mercedes and Audi, and is drawn by Pininfarina.

Initially the batteries and electric motors will be sourced from foreign companies, but Togg, being a national company, wants every component of the car to be produced in Turkey, while the car is based on a platform designed by the manufacturer itself, a platform which in the future will be installed on all 5 models of Togg electric cars.

The standard version of the car will apparently accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds, while the AWD version does so in 4.8 seconds.

According to NEDC, the two battery options will offer either 300 km or 500 km of driving range on a single charge.

The Togg C SUV will be available for purchase in the first quarter of 2022 or next year, with orders expected to begin in February.

The starting price for the base model is around 48,500 euros and the company will sell directly to customers, using Tesla's sales model.

The first showroom will open in Istanbul later this month and eventually Togg will have 20 showrooms across the country.

The new plant plans to produce around 17 or 18 vehicles next year with a target capacity of 150,000 units when full capacity production begins.

About 51 percent of the materials used in production are sourced from Turkey, but Togg next year will increase that number to 65 percent or more. /Telegraph/
