Will there be an agreement with Spain like with Italy for immigrants? Rama responds from Madrid

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has ruled out the possibility of an agreement with Spain on migrants like the one with Italy.

During the press conference in Madrid where he will sign the agreement for the organization of the "World Law Congress Albania 2027", the World Law Congress in 2027, which will be held in Tirana and will bring about 3 thousand lawyers from the supreme courts and judicial systems of many countries around the world, Rama emphasized that he does not see an agreement with Spain on immigrants possible due to the geographical position.

"I'm not sure it would make much sense because it has to do with geography. I don't see it as possible. If you have an idea of the geographical position of the two countries, we are connected by the sea with Italy and the only thing that makes this agreement credible is that the migrants don't stop in Italy because if they stop in Italy, they enter the EU territory and whole procedures are set in motion, but they stop in Albania. How possible would it be for Spain to stop in Albania and I don't see it as possible and I don't believe it is the final solution to the migration crisis. Europe needs to fight migration, but it needs more and more migrants."

Asked if the plan with Italy for immigrants is failing, Rama said that the answer to this should be obtained from his counterpart Giorgia Meloni.

"I have no opinion on this. The question should be addressed to the Italian sister Giorgia Meloni because for us being part of this agreement is very simple. We were asked by Italy to help and when Italy asks, we always help because our relationship is millennial. We owe a lot to Italy especially for what Italy has done after the fall of communism and that has helped us a lot in dramatic moments. When we had the devastating earthquake, Italian civil emergency troops risked their lives to save people from the rubble. They asked us for this and we helped. Every nation must help each other. It is an operation that is 100% under Italian supervision and responsibility and you should ask the Italian side," Rama declared./A2 CNN
