Three in four drivers in Britain say they are 'being blinded by brighter car lights'

"Brighter" headlights are causing problems for drivers "more than ever before", campaigners in the UK have said.

It is even estimated that about three quarters of drivers have said that LED lights in vehicles are among the factors that make them "blind" while driving, Telegrafi reports.

Authorities have called for an independent study into the issue after a survey showed that more than four out of five (85%) drivers affected by flashing lights said the problem is getting worse.

An important issue, according to Labor MP Graeme Downie, who asked a written question in parliament, is that drivers may not realize how their lighting affects others.

He said he understands from his own driving, as well as from others, that cars with newer LED lights "can be blinding to other road users."

"While they may illuminate the road well for the driver, they dazzle other road users and can be dangerous." /Telegraph/
