If you're looking for an alternative to the crunchy taste of potato chips, roasted chickpeas may become your new go-to snack. Beans are the main component of the diet of the inhabitants of the blue zone, so it is logical that they choose them as a snack.

Nuts

Nuts are a staple snack for blue zone residents. They're small, but packed with vitamins and minerals – although they're high in calories, so you'll want to avoid constant snacking.

Also watch out for salted or caramelized nuts. An ideal mix includes almonds, peanuts, cashews, Brazil nuts and walnuts. Stick to a maximum of two small handfuls of your favorite blend.
