Those arrested from Specialja, Kilaj, Smakaj and Fazliu are being sent to The Hague

The former mayor of the Municipality of Malisheva, Isni Kilaj, Bashkim Smakaj, former advisor to the president Hashim Thaçi and the member of the KLA, Fadil Fazliu, have been transferred to The Hague, from the EULEX offices, where they have been held since the Thursday.

With armored vehicles and an ambulance, the same have headed towards Pristina Airport "Adem Jashari", to be transferred to The Hague by private plane.

Since Thursday, they have been kept in the central offices of EULEX, in Fushë Kosovë.


However, today the family members came out to greet the suspects from afar, while they expressed concern that they were not allowed to contact or see them during the time that they were held in the EULEX offices, reports KP.

Kilaj, Smakaj, Fazliu are suspected to have been interviewed for obstructing the judicial process taking place there.

The SPS said that the operations were authorized "from the judicial side by the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo and were supported by EULEX.

Bashkim Smakaj led the KIA from 2009-2015, when he resigned shortly after being appointed for his second term.

Isni Kilaj was first arrested in November 2023 on suspicion of obstruction of justice and was released on bail in May 2024 after paying bail of 30.000 euros.

In September, the SPS amended the indictment against Kilaj, but did not provide details on the changes made.

The judicial process against the former leaders of the KLA is also underway in The Hague.

The Special Court was established in 2015 by the Assembly of Kosovo and is part of the judicial system of Kosovo.
