This is the best video game of 2024 on Play Station

Another award ceremony "The Game Awards" has ended and as always it brought us some pleasant surprises.

To begin with, let's start with the absolute winner – the Play Station 5 franchise, Astro Bot, was named the best video game of 2024, and it also has more awards.

“I was a kid in 1989 and I got a gray box and a video game in it. It was Super Mario Brothers and it was great. I wanted to pay tribute to a company that really showed us innovation and consistent quality, and that inspired us to make a game like this," said Asobi studio director Nicolas Doucet.

Nintendo, of course, didn't win anything at last night's awards, but at least the ceremony was grand and featured the likes of Harrison Ford and Snoop Dogg.

The Best Indie Game Debut award went to Balatro, a poker-style video game. The same title was also nominated for Best Mobile Video Game as well as Best Indie Video Game. The heads of the LocalThunk studio behind this Balatra praised the entire indie scene in their speech.

In addition to the awards, we also saw some pretty interesting new video game announcements. So at the beginning of the ceremony, Elden Ring: Nightreign was announced, for which a trailer was also shown. Further, the studio behind It Takes Two has announced a two-player video game called Split Fiction, which will be released in March.

Also announced were games like Dispatch, Naughty Dog's new franchise called Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and of course, lest we forget, a six-minute trailer was shown for The Witcher 4 that will focus on Ciri, not Geralt. /Telegraph/
