Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg uses the Signal app to communicate

Zuckerberg was found to be using Signal by publishing his phone number, which confirmed the Facebook chief was using the app, even as the company he founded was at the center of a user privacy breach scandal.

In addition to his phone number, data including his name, location, marital status, date of birth and Facebook account ID were also released, according to the online report.

"Mark Zuckerberg respects his privacy, using a communication app that has end-to-end encryption and is not owned by Facebook. This is a number linked to his account from a recent Facebook data leak,” security expert Dave said on Twitter.

Walker with a screenshot of Zuckerberg's phone number said, "Mark Zuckerberg is on Signal."

The news comes at a time when many users are moving to seemingly safer alternatives like Signal, angered by Facebook-owned WhatsApp's new privacy policy. /Telegraph/
