The Government of Kosovo is preparing a draft statute regarding the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian majority, based on the proposal of the German Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
The same draft statute will be submitted to the Constitutional Court for review by the end of this month.
The German journalist of the "Frankurter Algemeine Zeitung", Michael Martens, has called this an extraordinary last-minute move regarding Kosovo's application for membership in the Council of Europe.
"Extraordinary last-minute move in Kosovo regarding membership in the Council of Europe", writes Martens.
He points out that the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung is the "foundation" of the SPD (Social Democratic Party), close to Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his people, some of whom have been hesitant on the matter until now.
