The state has no strategy against corruption.

The Director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, Yll Buleshkaj, said that Kosovo still does not have an Anti-Corruption Strategy and an Action Plan on how to combat this negative phenomenon.

The Government of Kosovo is responsible for drafting and approving such a strategy, according to Buleshkaj.

He emphasizes that last year an Anti-Corruption Strategy was put up for public discussion and that the parties involved in this process have provided their comments, however the work has still not been finalized.

"Last year, there was a draft of this strategy that was put out for public discussion, and now we are waiting to see if the new government will continue with it or make a new draft," he said in Kallxo Përnime.

Buleshkaj underlines that the existence of this strategy would help Kosovo in orienting the main objectives of the Kosovo government to prevent and combat corruption.

"If we had a strategy, we would be better off in international assessments. We need to have a document that should be a guide for our work. The strategy does not regulate everything, but the Action Plan that would be approved together with the strategy is very important," Buleshkaj emphasizes, among other things.

In May 2023, the Government of Kosovo launched the State Anti-Corruption Strategy.
