The low salary, non-officialization of the attendant during working hours and payment for examinations, are among the reasons for which the physical security workers of the University Clinical Center of Kosovo protested today in front of the administration directorate at KKUK.

The Chairman of the Independent Union of the Private Sector, Jusuf Azemi, said that these workers continue to receive a salary of 275 euros, even though the Government of Kosovo has decided that the minimum wage in Kosovo should not remain below 350 euros.

According to Azemi, the food inside the KKUK is sometimes thrown away and not given to physical security workers, for which he requested that the decision about their food be formalized.

Azemi emphasized that if the demands of the workers are not taken into account within two weeks, they will go on strike, reports kp.

"Since September, a decision has been made by the Government of Kosovo that the minimum wage must not remain below 350 euros. We are now in November where these workers receive a salary of 275 euros. Their salary is being negotiated several times with the company, as to which company will receive it, and their salary is still 275 euros, without a doubt harmful and this must not happen. It is an issue for which these workers do not have the rights guaranteed by law.

The right that we have been demanding for a long time, because the food of these workers is often thrown away and is not given to them, it is not formalized. We have demanded that their food be formalized. We have demanded and are still demanding that if a check is needed on these workers, we do a very short examination. They pay as if they were other citizens. We gave a two-week deadline that if our demands are met, fine. If not, it is normal that we can go on strike today, because we are being paid in violation of the minimum wage law," said Jusufi.

That they do not have any rights and that they are totally violated, said one of the physical security workers at KKUK, Jakup Mukulani. He said that it is challenging to manage this salary.

According to him, the Minister of Health Arben Vitia told them that since these workers are paid by private companies, there is nothing to do in this regard.

"We have no rights, we are totally violated. This state makes decisions, this state violates its own law, it doesn't think about workers. Minister Arben Vitia said 'You are not ours'. I said 'whose minister are we,' he said 'You are private'. Do we belong to this state, or to whom do we belong? Where are we, contributing since we were 85 years old, in this clinic, in this UCCK.

We don't have food, we don't have rights, we don't have night shifts. There are no more violated people than security workers and cleaners at UCCK. Now go into the offices, the directors in the armchairs. We are on the streets... We are not asking for food 10 times a day, once a day. We are here for 12 hours. We don't even have the right to get food, we just have to stay there and get food from home. Living is a disaster, how can we live on 270 euros. We don't even pay for travel... We each have families, we have children in schools", said Mukulani.

In September of this year, the Government of Kosovo made a decision that the minimum wage should be 350 euros.

For the same grievances, the technical workers of the Assembly of Kosovo are on strike for three months now. A few days ago, the latter were replaced by new workers, without warning. /KP/
