The shy Indian cut off four fingers rather than tell his boss he wanted to quit his job

A 32-year-old Indian man admitted to cutting off four fingers on his left hand to avoid working as a computer operator at a relative's company.
Learning to say "no" seems easy, but for some people, it can be more difficult than damaging yourself for life.
An example is the case of a man from Gujarat who staged an "accident" that left him without four fingers on his left hand to avoid telling his boss that he wanted to quit his job.
This month, Mayur Tarapara went to a police station in his hometown of Surat to report that four fingers were missing from his left hand. He claimed he had been riding his motorcycle to a friend's house when he suddenly felt dizzy and passed out on the side of the road. When he woke up 10 minutes later, four fingers on his left hand had been cut off, he reports oddity central.
The police initially believed that the human finger might have been stolen for witchcraft rituals, but their investigation revealed many contradictions in Mayuri's story. The strange case was registered at the Amroli police station in Surat and then transferred to the city's Crime Branch.
Investigators began reviewing security camera footage in the area where the victim claimed to have passed out, as well as interviewing witnesses, but almost nothing corroborated his story. Mayur appeared to have parked his motorbike near a ring road before driving away and returning with an injured left hand. Also, no one had seen him lying on the side of the road. Under pressure from the police, the man admitted that he had cut his fingers himself.
"Tarapara admitted that he had bought a sharp knife from a shop near Char Rasta in Singanpore," a police official told The Hindu. “Four days later, on Sunday evening, he went to Amroli Ring Road and parked the motorcycle there. Around 10 o'clock in the evening, he cut four fingers with a knife and tied a rope near the elbow to prevent blood flow. Then, he put the knife and fingers in a bag and threw them away," added the policeman.
Mayur Tarapara barely told investigators that he had managed to harm himself because he no longer wanted to work at his relatives' diamond company. He didn't want to tell them, but the loss of four fingers made him unfit for the job. The police managed to find a bag with three of his fingers, but they are still trying to get more information from him to complete this strange story.
"He admitted that he did not want to work at the diamond factory and planned to cut off four fingers so that he would not be forced to work there," a crime inspector said, adding that "we are trying to get more information out of him." /Telegraph/
