The President of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropolu, called and thanked an Albanian immigrant who caused a sensation in the media a few days ago with her humanitarian gesture by sewing about 600 surgical masks, which she donated to the hospital in the city of Grevena.

The Albanian who has been living and working in Grevena for 21 years, Elona Agolli, who has a sewing workshop and a clothing store, received a call from Grevena Hospital asking if she could make 600 masks.

The woman originally from Korça, without thinking too much, accepted this and managed to fulfill this request. The hospital official asked to give her a piece rate. But Elona didn't think about it for a moment.

"I always hear on the news that there is a shortage of masks in hospitals that doctors and nurses are constantly looking for because they have run out. I immediately told him that I don't want the money and to give the masks to the hospital and to those workers who needed them. Then they told me that they would send me the fabric and I asked for a sample that I had modeled," said Elona.
