Worshipers visiting a church in Colombia have complained about the way the statue of the saint they pray to has been restored.

On the figure that personifies San Antonio de Padua, works have been carried out so poorly that it looks as if makeup has been put on his face, Telegrafi reports.

The wooden statue, carved in the 17th century, was badly damaged over time and church officials sent it to an artist for repair. But the results, which leave much to be desired, worried the believers, who used social networks to celebrate the occasion.

"This is no longer my protector, to whom I have prayed for 12 years. He has lipstick, shadow in his eyes and glitter on his face", said a believer from the area.

Others have said that this is 'modern San Antonio, a transsexual saint'.

It is reported that about 300 euros were spent on this restoration, while the artist who did the work said that he did not use the right colors. /Telegraph/
