A video circulating online shows the final moments of drug cartel boss Maria Gualdalupe Lopez Esquivel, who was seriously injured during a shootout with police in Mexico.
The published video and photographs confirm that it was Maria Guadalupe Lopez Esquivel, known as "La Catrina", who was a member of the group of professional killers of the cartel that massacred 13 police officers last October, Telegrafi reports.
Michoacan officials have announced that six men and one woman were killed after they opened fire on soldiers and policemen in the same area where an ambush took place last October that resulted in the killing of several police officers.
State officials initially did not reveal the identity of the woman killed in the shooting, but video and photos posted online show La Catrina was wounded and covered in blood.
La Catrina was a key figure in the Mexican cartel, yet in the video she was shot in the neck and almost her entire body was covered in blood. Doctors had confirmed that she had passed away as a result of massive blood loss.
But even though the army had engaged a helicopter to send her urgently to the hospital for treatment, she was declared dead as she did not survive her injuries. /Telegraph/
