Don't expect to get rich mining cryptocurrencies on laptops over 30 years old.
Laptops have also been around since the 1980s, and were primarily manufactured to perform word processing tasks.
The owner of the 3200 Toshiba T1989SX laptop kept his device all this time and decided to hire it for bitcoin mining purposes.
Based on current values and mining power, it would take a Toshiba T3200SX laptop about 584 million years to earn one dollar from mining bitcoin.
Of course, the purpose of this experiment is not to win, but to show that mining is possible on a large number of devices.
"Many devices can be used to mine bitcoin, from ASIC or GPU cards to Raspberry Pi computers. Why not try something that is very exotic? Like a 32-year-old laptop. Why? Because we can do this," said Dimitrij Eliusev - the creator of this experiment.
